Triathlon Training Schedule

For any triathlon training schedule to work you must have an identified time table. This ensures that you will be able to adjust to the transitions of each event.

Going from each event can be difficult for your muscles to get used to, but if you give yourself enough training time, you will be prepared for this.

For you to properly train and to set an appropriate training schedule, you should plan ahead a least a few months, if not a year before the race you are participating in. It is better to create a good foundation as early as possible before the race.

Training for a triathlon takes a good deal of time because it is a test of your endurance. If you fail to properly train, you will not be successful in any of the events. You also have to be aware of the fact that training doesn’t just involve physical abilities, but mental too.

Attitude and your determination can have a huge impact on how well you do. At the end of the race when you think you can’t run a step more, it is attitude that compensates.

All things must be ready before the race. That is why it is so essential to have a triathlon training schedule. You need to not only plan time for training, but also rest. If your body doesn’t have enough time to recuperate, you will feel the effects the day of the race.

You also need to schedule in time to assure your gears, suits, and equipments are in order. You should also do the same for yourself.

Right before the competition you will be given time to assemble all of your race necessities. Make sure you put these in planned positions. You schedule in practice time for the transitions and gear and equipment changes between each event.

It is also a good idea to schedule time for visualization and goal setting. Try to find time to release tension and stress from your mind and body. During the race you will want to know how to focus, yet relax. This way you can effectively relieve the pressure that will come on the big race day.

Once you have completed your triathlon, your triathlon training schedule should also allow time for recuperation before you decide to participate in another event. After such a taxing race, it is likely that you will have some muscle injuries. After the race is a great time to relax and enjoy your success.


Quick Tip #1 - Start Off Slow

Even though you will want to train hard, don't start off doing too much too soon. It can take months to fully prepare for a triathlon. Take it as far as you can each day and no more.


Quick Tip #2 - Stay Hydrated

In the midst of training it can be easy to forget drinking fluids. Make sure to drink plenty of water and sports drinks to stay hydrated.
